Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards

Impacts of Computing

Impacts of Computing

During this course, you will explore ideas and activities to integrate these standards into any classroom.  These are not stand-alone standards that are done in isolation or by one teacher.  Instead, they are standards that belong in every classroom at every grade level.  Because of that, we need to explore ways to integrate them into our already jam-packed schedules.  This course will help you see how and when you can do that.

This course intended to provide theory, discussion, and practice. It includes videos and articles to further our learning and examples of practical implementation and testimonies from students.

5 Hours CTLE Credit

Computational Thinking

Computational Thinking and Networks and Systems Design

There are so many benefits to adding computational thinking to our classrooms. In this course, we will deep dive into the CT and NSD concept areas of the NYSED Computer Science and Digital Fluency standards. See how you can incorporate these standards into your classroom. These new standards do not have to add more to your plate, but rather will enhance what you already do to support students. Walk away with activities, resources, and a better understanding of the vocabulary of these concept areas.

Cybersecurity and Digital Literacy

Cybersecurity and Digital Literacy

Now more than ever cybersecurity and digital literacy are important for our students to understand. In this course, we will explore the concepts, sub-concepts, and resources available from NYSED. We will also dive into the standards to explore what they mean, and how they can be applied to our classrooms. You will walk away with activity ideas to incorporate these standards into your classrooms without adding more to your already full schedule.
