Dr. Sal DeAngelo is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Superintendent of Schools for the Chatham Central School District, located in Columbia County just southeast of the New York State capital city of Albany. With his background and passion for technology, Sal also continues to be a resource to school districts, both locally and throughout the state.
Since taking the reins at Chatham in 2017, Sal has directed major initiatives to increase the effectiveness and rigor of the District’s PreK-12 program, support the physical and psychological wellness of its students and staff, maintain the District’s strong fiscal standing, and increase buy-in from the community for Chatham’s comprehensive, student-focused mission. In 2018, he oversaw the successful passage of a $9.8 million capital improvement bond to address pressing infrastructure needs, on which the District broke ground in 2019. Sal previously served as the Chief Technology Officer for the Bethlehem Central School District, where he spearheaded many emerging technology initiatives and best practices, including a student-led technology help desk, effective use of information systems, and cutting-edge infrastructure designs. As a leader in the field of instructional technology, he also managed technology projects in the Schenectady City School District for more than 25 years and was a strong force behind some of the programs and opportunities which continue to thrive in Capital Region schools today. Sal served as Project Director for a national grant program–Project VIEW– a U.S. Department of Education Technology Innovation Challenge Grant, the NYS Virtual Learning Space Grant, and several Learning Technology Grant Projects while serving in the Schenectady City School District. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration from the Sage College of Albany, a CAS from the College of Saint Rose in Educational Administration, a MBA from Norwich University in Vermont, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology from SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
